Based on the description of the room with the Spirit called Inside the Tree, and of the room leading to it (Spiral of Thorns), it should be classified as Cave, not forest.

The tree of ages is a tree in the middle of the forest. While the description inside of it may mention that it appears like a massive cave - that doesn't mean it has boulders to fall on people, a rock cavern floor (the floor is described still foresty), etc. Try a 'look all' in that room.
Having looked through it, it would make 0 sense for it to be classified as a cave in my view.
