"Crushing Pugil" Edge

I notice that this edge allows bone-shattering to occur on certain creatures who normally don't have bones to crush.. Such as nightwalkers. I note that it does not allow mace users to break bones with bone-shatter, displaying a message that they tried to but "have no bones to break". However it does let me break the non-existent bones if I get a successful shattering blow.
