vampire bat and blindness

Bat is immune to blindness due to echolocation. But if blinded in another form, and then shift to bat, you're still blind. If immunity to blindness is due to echolocation, shouldn't bat be able to see again? Maybe there's some way to allow sight while in bat form in spite of whatever blinding affects are in place, and then if shifting to a different form, sight goes away again?
