Nowhere in the help file does it state that you can use it to start combat.

Subject: He may be confusing it with isolate

That can be used on a non-fighting target and triggers a grapple opening move if your hands are empty.

That works just fine though.

Subject: Thought the same thing a while back

The Syntax: grapple suggests that it can be used to start combat or can be used to target a different victim than the one you are currently targeting.

Syntax: grapple would fit with the helpfile better.

That said, I would prefer to see it being able to start combat.
