newbie caves bug

I accidentally attacked a shoppie in the newbie caves, and he gives me a kind, friendly warning that I should consider my opponents before attacking them, then proceeds to kick the snot out of me anway. Seems rather a waste of a good warning, so I thought I'd report it.
