This keeps happening to me

<984/984hp 298/320m 721/725mv> soot You begin the dance of the Soot Ritual, seeking to suck the life from this place. <984/984hp 298/320m 721/725mv> A pillar of ash swirls all about this place, staining your flesh with inky smears. <984/984hp 198/320m 725/725mv> A flask of diminution evaporates in the heat! You trample around loudly again. The searing heat MUTILATES you! I know it's not a big deal, but the lag from using the soot ritual almost totally ensures that I take damage and/or lose a potion each and every time I do it. I've probably lost 10 potions to this. The nature of the ability makes it seem like it would give some kind of fire resistance too, but I think I must be mistaken. I am tossing this here because I don't know if it is by design or a minor error in the ability. Thanks.
