drow thief sneak
Description
How come if dark-elves have auto-sneak they can manually invoke the sneak skill as a thief?
In the skill list it shows up as:
sneak 100%
When you type sneak, it says:
You attempt to move silently.
Er, but aren't you already sneaking because you're a drow? Or is the skill sneak and autosneak different?
After the sneak skill fades, it says:
You no longer feel stealthy.
After 1 hour it says:
You begin to sneak again.
By design or bug?

Anyone can try to sneak.
And you do...
Sneak & Autosneak are basically the same. Autosneak you don't have to invoke. When you try to sneak, you are invoking the skill, and will have an affect will fade.
Which is what you see here.
By design.

Subject: Just a side question on this.
If Drow sneak and thief sneak are the same as you say, then why is only one affected by fairie fire and not the other?
I just find it odd that thieves cannot sneak while glowing yet drow and elves can. Is this by design, simply too hard to code autosneak being affected by fairie fire or some other reason? Just curious. Thanks.

Because the dark-elves & elves sneak is permanent. The spells faerie fire & faerie fog intentionally skip causing them to stop sneaking.
