Detect Invis thing with vigilance.

Scenario: I have detect invisible up before coming on duty as a Magistrate. I put up vigilance and everything is fine. I allow detect invisible to fall and continue having vigilance up. I can no longer see my glass ring. I can leave duty, then return, put up vigilance again and everything is fine. It seems that only when I have a previous detect spell up there is a problem. Suggestions?
